Immigrant Impacted Families & INCbh Advocacy WINS!
(4) Immigrant families advocated to reallocate dormant ARPA storm water funds ($175k) for "Flood Response and Resilient Recovery" for ALL families in Berwyn Heights directly impacted by the town's negligence and long ignored stormwater infrastructure conditions.
INCbh proposed a flood Resident Survey on Flooding be created, delivered and completed across all 900+ households.
Councilwoman Hemby and her family singlehandedly delivered survey postcards to each household including non-English speaking families (towns' majority) - INCbh preliminarily analyzed the survey:
What is INCbh advocating for:
We ask for immediate release and equitable use of ARPA storm water funds ($175k) allocated for a "Flood Response and Resilient Recovery" program.
We ask that NO MORE ARPA funds are "earmarked" for "studies" or "partnerships" or "initiatives" whose political intent is to delay implementing programs and access to funds by ALL families who experienced flooding.
We (INCbh) seeks support from state, county, and independent entities to develop an Immigrant-led Flood Recovery Strategic Plan that will provide directly impacted families the ability to recover from the adverse impacts of flooding and repair the long ignored county drainage systems in their properties.
WE ASK THE MAYOR AND MAYOR PRO TEM TO:
STOP THE POLITICAL PANDERING; AND ARPA SLUSH FUNDS BACKDOOR VIOLATIONS
STOP OVERWHELMING FAMILIES WHO HAVE BEEN DIRECTLY IMPACTED BY FLOODS
STOP NEGLECTING THE TOWN'S INFRASTRUCTURE WITH INEQUITABLE GOVERNANCE
The town's three-term elected council leaders ignored a 2021 stormwater study findings, and are adhering to the biases and cultural divides of a small group of town residents.
